However the firm’s history spans back decades, as owner and founder of Fitzgerald Jewellers, Trevor Fitzgerald has been a jeweller since the seventies – meaning he brings a wealth of experience and talent.

Embracing their location, a technique they love to use – especially when it comes to reusing your inherited jewellery to make something new – is cuttlefish casting, using the cuttlefish bone that washes up on the shores of the Kentish Coast. They say their soft inner shell lends itself to carving out a negative space to cast jewellery from whilst the rigid outer bone keeps the structure tight to withstand the heat of molten metal. Many hundreds of years ago, cuttlefish was used as an inexpensive way of creating a near perfect cast – today, Fitzgerald Jewellers embrace the unique texture every cuttlefish bone gives you.
So you can see, for Fitzgerald Jewellers, jewellery isn’t just about trends. Their goldsmiths have a unique way of designing contemporary jewellery whilst maintaining a very traditional ethos. This can be seen through the way they carefully design all of their jewellery in-house and hand make it on site in the workshop with their goldsmiths continuing to use traditional methods of jewellery making. They only work with precious materials including Fairtrade and recycled gold and all of the diamonds they use are conflict free.
Fitzgerald Jewellers hard work and passion has seen them be both nominated for and win some incredibly prestigious awards within the industry – in the last year alone these include winning both a Muddy Stilettos Award and UK Jewellery Award, plus being a finalist in the Professional Jeweller Awards and the NAJ Awards.

And if you need some help with an item, pop in any time – whether it is resizings, re-tippings, chain repair, rhodium plating, cleaning, polishing and more – they carry out all repairs in-house, in the Canterbury workshop.
They are also able to carry out watch battery replacements without pressure testing and strap changes in-store the same day, but if your watch needs a little more TLC, they can send it to one of their authorised service centres.
