Canterbury is inviting people to enjoy ‘Kent’s best night out’ within its city walls with the launch of a brand new Canterbury Nightlife Guide with six curated guides to different nights out that people can enjoy in the city, depending on their preferences.
People can browse through ideas on how to enjoy a Lively, Romantic, Foodie, Adventure, Curious or Cultural night out, and find links to supporting businesses. Ideas include suggestions for great club nights, cooking and cocktail classes, tasting experiences, cinema and theatrical performances, date nights, and gaming adventures.

The digital guide is being promoted through tourism website Visit Canterbury and MyCanterbury (which promote business offers to residents) promoting different themes each week.
There is also a competition to win an overnight stay and night out in Canterbury, including a stay for two at The Millers Arms, a meal for two at Café Du Soleil, vouchers for The Lady Luck pub and Matches Sports Bar, and a £100 Canterbury Night Out Gift Card that can be spent at 40+ venues, restaurants, cinemas, theatres and bars in the city.
The campaign was set up following the city receiving its 12th consecutive Purple Flag award for its thriving evening and night-time economy – the only location in Kent to do so. The Purple Flag standard is awarded by the Association of City and Town Management (ACTM) to town and city centres that offer an entertaining, diverse and safe night out.
Purple Flag – similar to the Blue Flag for beaches – aims to raise the standard and broaden the appeal of town and city centres between the hours of 5pm to 5am. This prestigious award highlights Canterbury's blend of entertainment, dining, and culture, all while ensuring the safety and well-being of residents and visitors in the evening and night time economy.

Key successes in Canterbury's submission include the impressive and continued commitment to safety, the fantastic response to both the Canterbury and Night Out Gift Card, and the extensive list of events across the year.
Lisa Carlson, Chief Executive of Canterbury BID, said: "We are fortunate to have so many outstanding businesses offering things to do in the city in the evenings, and our evening and night-time economy needs more support and promotion than ever.
“There really is a huge range of things that people can do in the city. Some people are looking for a lively night out with drinks and dancing, while others want to spend their evening dining with friends or testing their skills at an escape room or board game café. Luckily Canterbury can cater for pretty much everybody, so we created this guide to help point visitors in the right direction.
“We hope the new guide will inspire people to stay longer into the evening or make a weekend of their visit to Canterbury. Having just been given Purple Flag status means we can further assure people that the city is a fun and safe place to spend their night.”
