Independent bike-themed cafe that welcomes all
The Independent Pedaler is a coffee, bar and kitchen in Dover, with an additional site in Manston called Pedaler in The Yard. The second venue in Manston was built on the reputation of the award-winning Dover location and they say it brings together their “love of triple-A grade coffee and a passion for curating delicious and complimentary food options”. They collaborate with local East Kent suppliers to offer products made with the finest selection of ingredients.

Fringe and Ginge, Canterbury, Kent
Try a selection of tasty batch brews
Fringe and Ginge coffee shop was born in 2020 and can be found in Northgate, Canterbury near the city’s cathedral. Head there for a great cup of coffee – whether you are looking to warm up with a comforting hot drink or cool off with an iced option – and tasty sweet treats too.

The Home Front Tea Room, Ramsgate, Kent
Experience the 1940s while enjoying a cuppa
The Home Front Tea Room is a 1940s tea room in King Street, Ramsgate where you can visit for coffee, tea, cake, light bites and tasty treats Monday to Saturday, from 10am to 4pm and enjoy a bit of nostalgia in its quaint and cosy setting.

Micro Roastery, Canterbury, Kent
They roast their own coffee – so you can take some beans home with you too
Sitting in the heart of Canterbury City centre on St Margaret’s Street, Micro Roastery serve and sell fresh roasted coffee. The independent speciality coffee roaster opened the coffee shop in 2013, and owners Nick and Erika were “driven by the idea of roasting coffee in the shop whilst also selling fresh coffee and beans to our customers all in one place”. However realising they needed more space the roastery has now moved to Aylesham, but you can still see their pipe system and “upstairs you’ll find our trusty little roaster from when we first started out”.

The Bucket & Spade Coffee Shop, Dymchurch, Kent

Offering a varied menu
Lazix is a coffee house, restaurant and bar located on Butchery Lane in Canterbury. It offers a varied coffee menu, including expresso, Cortado, Latte, Capuccino, Turkish coffee and Affogato. As well as a wide range of other hot and cold drinks, you could also enjoy an all day brunch, gourmet sandwiches, crepes and cakes.

In a scenic valley west of Dover, Little Farthingloe Farm is located in Victorian buildings adapted for a range of shops and attractions. The café is located in a barn and sells great coffee and other hot and cold drinks, or why not try one of their Farthingloe burger and Farthingloe bacon and melted cheese rolls or hot soup and filled rolls? There is also a selection of cakes and pastries available daily from the bakery to enjoy with a drink, and they also stock Marshfield ice cream.

Steep Street, Folkestone, Kent
A book café and bakery
Nestled between artist studios and quirky boutiques, you will find Steep Street on the Old High Street in Folkestone. Offering excellent coffee, freshly made cakes, savoury food and warm and friendly atmosphere, they are a literary coffee shop inspired by the famous book cafés of Paris with walls lined with poetry and local literature, classics and coffee table hardbacks, which are for browsing and are for sale. All of their food is made on the premises and they source their Single Origin coffees from co-operatives that support the communities that produce the beans.

Baskerville’s Coffee House, Maidstone, Kent
Have a spot of coffee with your four-legged friend in tow
This dog-friendly coffee house in Appledore Court, Allington, Maidstone serves delicious homemade food and fabulous coffee. At Baskerville's dogs are made very welcome – they even offer homemade afternoon tea for dogs! Their passion is to offer good, food amazing coffee and a friendly and welcoming environment, as they say it is a place “where tails wag and coffee brews”!

Relax in an unusual structure designed by ‘the Leonardo da Vinci of our times’
It’s easy to see why the East Beach Café in Littlehampton has the tagline of “great food, great architecture, great location”. Enjoying views of the sea from its spot right on the beachfront you can enjoy classic English food with fresh fish caught locally on the menu as well as the favourite burger. The stunning building was created by Thomas Heatherwick and his design team, who built a structure “that not only became a popular local cafe but was published around the world, attracting thousands of tourists to the south coast seaside”. Carson’s Tea House, Crowborough, Sussex
A coffee shop with a passion for an affordable, quintessentially British 'Meet and Treat' experience
In the heart of the town centre, Carson’s believe in simplicity and tradition, offering classic British fare made from local produce. They serve locally roasted coffee, as well as locally sourced bread, meat, beers, spirits and wines as well as their own Carson’s Sussex Royal tea, blended for them in Arundel. Their coffee blend is Alma Road from Lindfield Coffee Works and options include espresso, Americano, Mocha and a Babyccino.
