Part of the BID’s promotional strategy is to attract residents and visitors to spend longer in the town by way of events that make Tunbridge Wells an attractive destination. Events like the open air screenings increase dwell time and encourage more spend with local businesses.

Following the success of the inaugural Filmzone in 2025, this year there are three days of films, thanks to sponsor Cooper Burnett Solicitors, and in association with Trinity Theatre. RTW Together BID know people are struggling financially, and so they have kept the ticket prices as low as possible.

Wednesday 8th July kicks off at 8pm with the DC Universe reboot of Superman (2025), portrayed by the talented David Corenswet. Thursday 9th July pays homage to the incoming weekend of live tennis action by showing the film Wimbledon at 4.30pm, starring Paul Bettany and Kirsten Dunst. The evening viewing at 8pm brings Hot Fuzz (15+ only), heralded as a masterclass in comedy filmmaking, with a razor-sharp script and pitch-perfect performances thanks to the brilliant duo of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.

For the final day of films, Friday 10th July kicks off at 4.30pm with Pixar classic, Ratatouille. Set in Paris, the story focuses on a rat named Remy who dreams of being a chef. The Finale had to meet the runaway success of last year, and so they are bringing the sequel (and prequel) of Mamma Mia: Here we go again! as the final film at 8pm.

Victoria Sampson, Head of Corporate and Commercial at CooperBurnett LLP commented: “We are delighted to sponsor Filmzone in Calverley Grounds. Events like this are what make Tunbridge Wells such a great place to work and live! A beautiful summer’s day, the backdrop of the stunning grounds, a glass of something cold in hand, a deckchair to lounge on, we are so fortunate to have all this in our town.”

The BID are also very proud to host the Wimbledon Finals Weekend at Fanzone 2026, completely free of charge from 11am on Saturday 11th July until the final serve is made on Sunday 12th July. Forget Murray’s Mount or Henman Hill, Tunbridge Wells has The Royal Ridge, which proved incredibly popular for shade under the big trees when temperatures soared into the high 20s last year. The BID will also provide air mist fans across the site if the sun is out, a welcome spot to cool down.
