Hélène Darroze at The Connaught, in London has been awarded with the prestigious 3 Michelin stars. At this intimate dining experience you will get personally tailored menus, where the season defines each dish and Hélène carefully chooses produce from the farmers, makers and growers herself. They say “every menu is a reflection of your personal tastes, as our chefs transform your selected ingredients into original works of culinary art”. After a full and extensive, two-month refurbishment and modernisation in 2019, the acclaimed chef’s creative vision has been realised in a bold reimagining of the dining room, kitchen and menu, with a stunning new Chef’s Table (pictured top), show kitchen and dedicated Armagnac Room.

Ben Wilkinson at The Pass, Horsham, Sussex

A new member to the Michelin star list in 2023 was Ben Wilkinson at The Pass, in Horsham. Bringing the very best of seasonal and British produce from Sussex and beyond Head Chef Ben Wilkinson reopened The Pass in August 2022. Within seven months, The Pass was awarded a Michelin star and 3 AA Rosettes (now 4 Rosettes), which they say is “a true testament to the exceptional talents of the team both in the kitchen and front of house”. An intimate restaurant, The Pass caters for up to 28 diners and being located in the heart of the kitchen, “you will experience the craft, overlooking the brigade of chefs in action as each and every dish is brought to life, filling you with anticipation as the final touches are made on the pass before heading to your table”. The Pass is located in South Lodge, a once-private home with 92 acres of Sussex countryside and views over the South Downs.

Stark, Broadstairs, Kent

Michelin-starred Stark in Broadstairs was opened in 2016 by owners Ben and Sophie Crittenden. Open for dinner Wednesday to Saturday, Stark is a very intimate, relaxed restaurant “whose only demand of you is that you sit back, trust us with your dinner and enjoy the experience”. Serving quality food, made from the best seasonal ingredients, Stark’s frequently changing six-course tasting menu is £85 and optional wine flight is £45. Take the chance now to dine there, as Stark Broadstairs will hold their last service on Friday 31st May 2024 and will be relocating to Mersea Island, Essex in June 2024.

Tillingham, Peasmarsh, Sussex

Set amongst 70 acres of rolling hills and woodlands with far-reaching views, Tillingham is a farm, winery, hotel and restaurant with a Michelin Green Star all rolled into one. Open for dinner seven days a week, the menu is centered around their Garden Menu – the full works is a five-course tasting menu "showcasing beautiful produce from our walled garden and surrounding farms". On Fridays and Saturdays they offer two, three or five-course options and on Sundays you can enjoy a family-style feasting menu. If you are holding a larger party they can host lunches and dinners in the Private Dining Room.

Hide and Fox, Saltwood, Kent

On a visit to Hide and Fox, in Saltwood, you can expect “modern British cuisine served in an intimate and relaxed environment, with a focus on carefully sourced seasonal ingredients and fine wines”. Interlude is a contemporary restaurant located in Horsham, set within the historic woodland gardens of Leonardslee Estate. There you can enjoy a unique Michelin Star & Michelin Green Star dining experience with them offering guests a multi-course set menu crafted by Executive Chef Jean Delport and his team that changes with the seasons. Restaurant Interlude won its first Michelin Star in 2019 and has been awarded three AA rosettes since 2020. Its ingredients are "foraged directly from the 240-acre Grade I listed Leonardslee Lakes & Gardens we call home".

Bridge Arms, Bridge, Kent

Dating back to the 16th century, the Grade II listed Bridge Arms is nestled in a beautiful rural village near Canterbury. The pub was restored to its former glory in 2021 by owners Daniel and Natasha Smith and gained its first Michelin star in 2022. The menu at this family-friendly pub uses seasonal produce to support local suppliers and is focused on cooking over charcoal produced from a local Kentish woodland in a Josper oven. Being situated just 10 miles from the coast means they have easy access to fresh and local seafood, while the surrounding countryside is a source of meats and poultry.

The Small Holding, Kilndown, Kent

Offering a set menu celebrating the best ingredients available in the region, The Small Holding, in Kilndown is a restaurant and farm “delivering a unique connection between the land and our table” as their exceptional food is grown by their gardener and farmers. The Small Holding was opened in 2018 by brothers Will and Matt Devlin with a key focus on sustainability, with growing and foraging at the heart of what they do. Rather than a traditional menu, you will be offered a multi-course dining experience based on the best ingredients that have been harvested that day. Since opening, they have gained a great reputation as well as a Michelin Green Star. The menu is ever changing depending on the season and they make their own bread, butter, charcuterie and preserves.
