Self Build Show ‘Build It Live’ returns to Kent

Each show offers free advice from leading industry experts, informative workshops and the opportunity to meet and talk to over 100 exhibitors.
Organised by Build It magazine, the UK’s longest running self build magazine, visitors will find it easy to find out about all the latest custom build routes available to self builders and discover the best way to find land to build your dream home.
All self builds start with a hunt for the perfect plot so why not secure a plot with a visit to the ‘The Land Zone’ at Build It Live which incorporates Build It’s Plotbrowser.com, the UK’s free online plot finding service. This area gives visitors all they need to know about finding land across the UK along with a gallery of currently available plots of land in the region, plus the latest service-plot projects across the UK.
Visit the ‘Orchard Farm’ stand to find out how the Dutch way of self-building is coming to Kent. This Anglo Dutch partnership will enable the creation of Kent’s first sustainable self-build community on a former farm site in Kennington, near Ashford. Eventually, 122 homes will be self built at Orchard Farm. The first phase of 18 plots will be released for sale in early 2024 once full planning permission has been granted.

The landscape design of Orchard Farm has already won awards. 20% of the development will be kept as meadow and there will be a communal orchard. There will be no gas on site and each plot will be sold with all services plus electric vehicle (EV) charging points. The design comprises a series of courtyards linked by lanes and there are no cul-de-sacs so residents will feel connected to each other, and the roads are designed to prioritise pedestrians and cyclists, with public footpaths to the North Downs.

‘Build It Live’ also offers unrivalled free one-to-one advice sessions from experts who can help answer questions at any of the free shows, daily demonstrations, seminars and workshops. The Kent Show is the first of three shows taking place next year and follows the merger of two of the UK’s best self build and renovation titles: Build It and SelfBuild & Design.
‘Build It Live’ in Kent offers a whole weekend of exciting self build inspiration with a chance to see all the latest home and building technology from suppliers who will be showcasing 1000s of products at the Kent Event Centre.

Where to buy tickets
Tickets are now on sale. The standard ticket price will be £12 per person. Children under 16 are admitted free with an accompanying adult.
The show is open Saturday between 10am and 5pm and Sunday between 10am and 4.30pm. Tickets are valid on either day or can be used to attend on both days.
