What’s On This Weekend in Kent, Sussex & London
18th-20th September 2026: All Things Fungi Festival
Taking place from 18th-20th September 2026, at the Chiddinglye Estate in Sussex, the All Things Fungi Festival offers the opportunity to dive into the world of Kingdom Fungi, from soil health to mental wellness and spend a weekend under the trees. Each day will start with a variety of wellness events, from yoga to breath work, then after a day of wholesome activities, you can relax with live music and entertainment or go and explore the fluorescent forest with UV torches looking for bats, listening for owls or simply appreciating the dark skies. Also every fungus, slime mould, plant and creature is recorded by festival-goers on iNaturalist, plotted where it was found, year by year. There will be a range of on-site accommodation options including camping, campervan pitches, bell tents and glamping pods.
20th-27th September 2026: The Stour Valley Riverfest 2026
Celebrating the River Stour and its tributaries, which flow through the Kent Downs National Landscape, the City of Canterbury and out to sea via the internationally protected wetlands of the Lower Stour, The Stour Valley Riverfest runs from 20th-27th September 2026 offering a week of wonderful Stour-related events aimed at celebrating its historical, cultural and environmental interests. Events throughout the week include Canterbury Annual Duck Race (20th September), a riverside guided tree walk, a bat walk at Westgate Gardens, Tai Chi and Qigong by the river, pollution safaris, Little Stour river dipping for families, an inter-faith riverside walk and forest school at Hambrook Marshes.
Until 27th September 2026: Walk Tonbridge Festival
This weekend sees the start of the Walk Tonbridge Festival – two weeks of guided walks and community events raising vital funds for local charity Sustain food bank. A celebration of walking, Tonbridge, community and countryside, a selection of guided walks in and around Tonbridge have been curated for you to enjoy over the festival period. New walks for 2026 include Stories of Old Tonbridge – a history walk with Cathy Rishman and a special ‘Rail Hike’ that begins in Tonbridge and follows the Medway for over 13 miles. Plus, returning this year is ‘Walking The Fosse’ a walking tour of medieval Tonbridge with Mark Andsell. And making her festival debut is Jenn Phillips of MJ Outdoor Adventures, leading a ‘women’s walk’ from Haysden. All walks are being led by experts that have volunteered their services to help raise money.
20th September 2026: Walk Tonbridge Festival Mini Marathon
This Sunday sees the second Walk Tonbridge Festival Mini Marathon taking place offering a chance to challenge yourself for charity. The five-mile route starts and finishes Tonbridge Old Fire Station and goes around Tonbridge Park, Haysden before returning via the Powdermills and Hildenborough. There is also a 3.5-mile accessible route suitable for buggies and outdoor/heavier power chairs. There will be the chance to stop for tea and cake along the way and everyone that finishes will receive a medal. Tickets are £10 for adults and £5 for children, with all proceeds being donated to Sustain food bank. Plus you are welcome to raise money for your own good cause too.
