First up, make sure to get your hotel booked in advance. It’s going to be the base for your stay so choose somewhere that’s near to all the spots at the top of your list to visit. We would suggest Blue Sky Guest House in Kemptown (pictured below) which provides lovely accommodation. It is in a great location just 400m from Brighton Beach, less than 1km from Brighton Pier and a 11-minute walk from The Royal Pavilion. You can book a room on booking.com or call 07479 642928. Alternatively you could opt for a stay at The Grand hotel on the seafront.

Arriving early evening (around 5pm) you can park by meter BN2OLE  – paying by phone will cost £9 per day. After checking in to your accommodation we would recommend spending you first evening enjoying a pre-dinner drink at the Hand in Hand pub on Upper St James’s Street. Offering real ales the pub has a ‘studenty’ vibe and is a hub of the community.

Next up it’s time to find some food to soak up those tasty tipples, so get yourself a table at the Baqueano restaurant on Western Road for dinner, where you can explore the traditional and authentic flavours of Argentina, but be aware, pre-booking is recommended.

After a delightful meal, why not continue the evening with some great live music? we might would suggest checking out the French-styled cafe-bar The Paris House, also on Western Road, or The Mesmerist on Prince Albert Street in the South Lanes. Alternatively try The Camelford Arms on Camelford Street.

After a fun-filled evening it’s time to get a good night’s sleep so you’re ready for the next day of activities.

Get day one off to a good start with a swim at the Sea Lanes Brighton. Having opened last summer it has transformed the former Peter Pan site on Madeira Drive, offering a 50m six-lane open air heated swimming pool with membership available or open to members of the public on a pay per swim basis.

Alternatively you can relax in a sauna and cold baths at Beach Box – an all year round wood-fired public beach sauna spa, based on Brighton Beach, with three unique cosy converted horse trailers. With incredible sea views and being located right on the pebbles with direct beach access, it’s perfect for a sea dip too!

Then surely it is time for a spot of brunch – so head to Cafe Rust in Kemptown. Unwind in the cafe’s stylish rustic interior with a cup of organic coffee, local and roasted in Kemptown and some breakfast made in-house by the talented chefs.

Next up enjoy a morning stroll along the sea front, taking in the many sites along the esplanade to the Upside Down House (pictured below). This “museum of illusions” is fun for all, where they say you can capture “the most surreal images, unique poses from an inverted perspective”. Plus a visit to the Pier is a must on a trip to Brighton – and don’t forget some loose change for fun at the slot machines!

In the afternoon how about taking a hop-on-hop-off bus tour, offering the chance to see the most of the city you can squeeze into an afternoon.

Feeling pleasantly tired it’s then time for an evening drink at the Black Dove Pub in Kemptown followed by dinner at Bincho Yakitori in Preston Street, where the Japanese food is for sharing and cooked to order, most of it on the grill – and pre-booking is essential. We would then suggest a night cap at the Fallen Angel in Grafton Street, a real locals’ pub with a great atmosphere, before heading back to the hotel to recharge the batteries ready for what the next day has to offer.

For your last day in this wonderful city it’s time to head to the shops. Take a walk to The North Lanes and grab a spot of breakfast at one of the many cafes there before checking out the delightful Bohemian stores. And while you are in the area don’t miss out on the chance to visit to the Brighton Pavilion where you can take in the splendour of The Banqueting Room, find out how the Great Kitchen broke new ground in England, embrace the grandeur of the Saloon, view the Chinese-inspired Music Room, see where the royals rested in the Royal Bedrooms and discover the extraordinary war story of the Indian Hospital Gallery. Meanwhile outside, its garden offers a wildlife haven to be explored.

When it’s time to refuel pop in to The Grand hotel, back on the seafront, for a spot of lunch. Here you can relax in the lap of luxury a this five star hotel whose restaurant offers delicious fresh seafood and local produce or you could make a visit to its Victoria Terrace for an award-winning afternoon tea.

After 48 hours packed full of exciting experiences, fabulous food and delectable drinks it’s time to finally head home happy, full and tired and ready to make a list of the things you want to do on your next visit to the city.
